A paper authored by Dr. Alan Cusack (University of Limerick) has recently been published in the British Journal of Criminology (OUP).
The article is entitled ‘'Criminological Others: An Inquiry into the Construction and Legal Standing of Suspects with Intellectual Disabilities in Ireland’.
The paper explores the procedures, culture and legal rules that shape the construction of suspects with intellectual disabilities in Ireland. In doing so, the paper highlights the need to reconstruct suspect identifies at both a policy and procedural level in order to yield a more accessible pre-trial framework.
