The Ageing Research Centre in collaboration with the Age Friendly University Committee hosted a symposium on Age Inclusivity: From Principles to Practice. The symposium was formally opened by Minister of State for Older People and Housing, Kieran O’Donnell.

The symposium featured esteemed speakers, including Professor Emer Ahern, President of the Irish Gerontological Society, and Professor Margaret O’Connor, Consultant Geriatrician at UL Hospitals Group, who shared their insights on age-friendly health systems and age-attuned healthcare practices. Additionally, we had contributions from Dr. Dympna Tuohy and PhD candidate Madge O’Callaghan, who discussed intergenerational learning and research opportunities for ageing demographics.

This symposium was attended by a large number of older adults across the Mid-West Region, as well as clinicians, academics and research with a common interest in ageing. The symposium highlights our commitment to advancing age-friendly initiatives and fostering an inclusive environment for our ageing population.
