Brief Description

As tax functions become more data-driven, professionals need the skills to analyse complex information and deliver meaningful insights. Data analytics is now a critical tool for tax forecasting, risk management, and strategic decision-making. 

This 5-week, Level 9 online micro-credential equips you with practical skills in data analysis and visualisation, tailored specifically for the tax domain.  

You’ll use modern software tools to model tax-related business drivers, assess financial impact, and support evidence-based decision-making. 

With a strong hands-on focus, this module is ideal for tax professionals looking to enhance their capabilities and apply data-driven thinking in their daily work. 

This module can be taken as a standalone University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of a pathway to a larger award. 

 During this module, you will: 

  • Learn how to apply data analytics and visualisation techniques to solve practical tax-related business problems. 

  • Use modern software tools to model tax drivers, forecast liability, and support data-informed decision-making. 

  • Understand the strengths and limitations of different analytics methods and when to apply them in a tax context. 

  • Develop career-ready, transferable skills in tax analytics or progress to further study in taxation and data science. 

Key Information

This micro-credential will be delivered online over 5 weeks.  

You will be assessed through 1-2 continuous skill-based assignments, provided by your lecturer, with no final exam.

To help you to be successful on this course:

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honours, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.    

  • If applicants have a lower result they may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they can provide evidence of two or more years of relevant work experience (Recognised Prior Learning).  

  • In assessing applications, the Course Team will consider relevant accredited tax qualifications, work experience etc. as being suitable prior learning
