Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Recognised as a leader in the field, University of Limerick is committed to integrating, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights (EDI - Human Rights) into its structures, procedures, actions, values and culture. Reporting to the Provost and Deputy President, the Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) has overall responsibility for driving the implementation and delivery of the University's Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights agenda, ensuring that it achieves its strategies and goals; is compliant with relevant legislation; and reaches the necessary benchmarks for accreditation in these areas.
Professor Patricia Mannix McNamara is the Interim Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
Professor Mannix McNamara is a teacher educator in the School of Education at the University of Limerick. In addition to her teacher education work, her background includes health promotion, empowerment, advocacy, and educational leadership. Her research focus on addressing systemic inequities, barriers to inclusion, bullying, harassment, gender-based violence and harassment and workplace culture. Her more recent work centres on policy development, policy efficacy and the protection of fundamental rights through collaborative, community-centered and trauma informed approaches. She is experienced in working closely with internal and external stakeholders in capacity building and the promotion of inclusive and just cultures.
