  • Looking for inspiration about what constitutes good practice? The Advance HE organisation, who award the Athena Swan and Race Equality Charters, has an information data base on gender and race equality initiatives in higher education.
  • The framework for equality and inclusion in UL is underpinned by two key documents: the UL Athena Swan Submission and the UL Equality and Human Rights Strategy.
  • It is also informed by the national Gender Equality Action Plan, which was published on 2018
  • Further information on gender equality in higher education can be found at the Centre of Excellence located in the Higher Education Authority
  • The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission is Ireland’s national human rights and equality institution, whose purpose is to promote and protect human rights and equality in Ireland and build a culture of respect for human rights, equality and intercultural understanding in the State.
  • The Department of Education published a framework for consent in higher education entitled ‘Safe, Respectful, Supportive and Positive – Ending Sexual Violence and Harassment in Irish Higher Education Institutions’ (2019)
  • This was followed soon after by Guidelines issued by the Irish University Association to assist universities in ensuring an effective response to reports or complaints of sexual misconduct.
