Across Ireland, children’s disability network teams (CDNT) provide specialised support and services for children who have a disability and complex health needs associated with their disability. Comprising of multiple health and social care professionals, the role of these teams is to support a child’s development, wellbeing and participation in family and community life. To realise these goals, the sharing of team members’ knowledge, information and skills is fundamental. As the international evidence-base to support the use of music therapy in the disability sector grows, it is timely to reflect on what music therapy can contribute to the development of CDNTs in Ireland. This seminar will explore this question through presentations of case examples from the perspectives of music therapists, speech and language therapists and a clinical psychologist with extensive experience of practice within a CDNT.

Dr Paul Quinn is a Senior Clinical Psychologist  and qualified music therapist with extensive experience in disability settings across both the private and public sectors. He is the recipient of the 'Pat Brosnan Award for Research Excellence in Clinical Psychology' and is passionate about the use of creative arts modalities to achieve therapeutic goals.

Edel Coughlan is a music therapist working as part of the CNDT 5 in Enable Ireland, Galway city.
