The Glucksman Library has completed the refurbishment of the former Special Collections Reading Room on floor two of the library, creating The CoLab: a flexible, student-centred learning space designed to support collaborative and active learning.
The CoLab opened to students on 7 November. The space accommodates up to 48 students and is designed for multiple group configurations, enabling engaged pedagogy and collaborative work beyond the classroom. Its layout and features promote adaptability, ensuring it meets evolving learning needs.
Features include:
- Desks with built in interchangeable power packs providing USB and USB-C charging.
- Comfortable, practical furniture supporting group work and active learning.
- Drywipe boards for brainstorming and group discussions.
This development responds to strong student feedback and usage trends, delivering a high-quality environment for collaborative learning in UL’s most visited study space.
It reflects UL’s commitment to supporting innovative teaching approaches and enhancing the student experience.
The CoLab is a dual-purpose space, primarily for students but also a bookable event space for faculty, staff and researchers.
